The September program of STEP FuturAbility District (Piazza Adriano Olivetti 1) continues to offer a rich lineup of scientific and cultural events. This innovative space connects the community with the future, helping everyone better understand the ongoing digital revolution and discover how to actively participate in it.

On Tuesday, September 16, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop “A New Vision of Mobility in the City of the Future” will be held, led by Sergio Matteo Savaresi, Full Professor of Automatic Control at Politecnico di Milano and Director of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering. The session will explore new urban mobility models, moving beyond the traditional private car approach. From the spread of mobility-on-demand services to the potential of low-speed autonomous vehicles, the talk will provide an overview of emerging solutions for a more sustainable and efficient city. Exclusively for the event, attendees will have the chance to see the Maserati MC20 Cielo live, an experimental vehicle featured in Politecnico di Milano’s Research Project AIDA, which participated in the 1000 Miglia 2023 for autonomous cars and CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, September 23, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop “Brain on Airplane Mode: Rediscovering Digital Wellbeing” will be held, led by Alessio Carciofi, university professor and pioneer of digital detox and digital wellbeing in Italy. The session will offer practical strategies to develop a healthier relationship with technology, emphasizing silence, breaks, and mindfulness. Combining neuroscience, emotions, and daily habits, the talk aims to transform technology from a source of distraction into a tool for wellbeing and performance. Carciofi, author of several books and speaker at three TEDx events, is the founder of the Digital Detox Festival and collaborates with companies and institutions to promote conscious digital use.

On Tuesday, September 30, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the month concludes with the workshop “Fabrics of the Future: The Sustainable Fashion Revolution”, organized in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), STEP’s Knowledge Partner. The session will be led by Sarah Luksic, Project Leader at BCG specializing in fashion and luxury, and will provide an overview of new frontiers in NextGen materials: innovative fibers created with advanced biotechnologies, recycled waste, and natural ingredients. From mushrooms to algae, and biodegradable polymers, the fashion industry is undergoing a radical transformation that reshapes the value chain, reduces environmental impact, and opens new opportunities for a more competitive and sustainable sector.
