The scientific and cultural program of STEP FuturAbility District (Piazza Adriano Olivetti 1), the innovative space connecting people to the future where everyone can better understand the ongoing digital revolution and how to become part of it, continues to expand in April with new events featuring exceptional speakers.

On Tuesday, April 1, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop "Light and Nanomaterials: A Revolution for Health" will take place. This event will explore the secrets of Optoceutics, a new frontier in regenerative medicine that leverages the combined action of advanced materials and light to control, repair, and regenerate tissues. This technique requires a multidisciplinary approach, combining nanotechnology, biophotonics, materials science, and molecular and cellular biology, with promising applications in neuroscience, cardiovascular treatments, and tissue engineering. Maria Rosa Antognazza, a Researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology in Milan – CNST, in the Nanomaterials for Energy and Lifescience Research Unit, where she develops new materials for nanobiotechnologies, will be present. The workshop is organized in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology.

On Tuesday, April 15, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, STEP will host the workshop "AI and Neurodiversity: Allies for Innovation." The goal is to analyze how artificial intelligence is transforming the world and how it can be developed in an ethical and inclusive way. The discussion will focus on how even vulnerabilities can be a resource for innovation, thanks to the contributions of neurodivergent thinking, the experiences of people with disabilities, and the creative intuition of dyslexic individuals. Speakers include Carlotta Jesi, a journalist specializing in diversity and inclusion and founder of the women-led enterprise Radiomamma, and Federica Ianna, principal of the Leopardi Institute in Milan, who is pioneering an educational model that values neurodiversity and integrates artificial intelligence into teaching to stimulate students' creativity and critical thinking.

On Tuesday, April 29, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop "Bits, Qubits, and Startups: Where Can Physics Take You?" will be held, marking the second session of the FutureLab series dedicated to future careers and developed in collaboration with Focus magazine. Virginia Benzi, a young physicist and science communicator, will guide the audience through the career opportunities available to physics students. From traditional paths in research and industry to innovative fields such as data science, quantitative finance, and gaming, the session will provide insight into the most in-demand skills for the jobs of tomorrow. Benzi will also address the topic of female representation in STEM fields, sharing experiences and strategies for overcoming gender stereotypes.

NEXT-LEVEL AND FASTWEB + VODAFONE WIN THE NATIONAL AWARD FOR DIGITAL SKILLS IN THE “DIGITAL IN EDUCATION FOR SCHOOLS” CATEGORY WITH THE PROJECT LV8 – MISSION FUTURE
In a context where only 58.8% of young people aged 16 to 19 possess adequate digital skills—compared to the European average of 70.7%—the Turin-based third-sector organization demonstrates how digital technology can be a driver of educational innovation, promoting more participatory teaching and bringing learning closer to the language of new generations. In particular, thanks to LV8 – Mission Future, a project co-developed and funded by Fastweb + Vodafone, over the past three years 38,385 students have earned 50,951 certified open badges, in line with the European Commission’s reference model that describes and assesses citizens’ digital competences.
