Milan, June 23, 2026 – Eight thousand students reached in 74 high schools across eight regions, more than eight thousand certificates/Badges issued in over 700 hours of activities delivered. These are the numbers that close the 2025/2026 edition of "Mission Future", the national educational project by Fastweb + Vodafone and Next Level ETS that brings "LV8" into secondary school institutes – a learning game developed to acquire concrete digital skills, defined according to the European framework for digital competencies DigComp3.0.

Launched in June 2021 to involve young people who are not studying and not working (the so-called NEETs) in digital training paths, LV8 is now aimed at all young people who wish to acquire digital skills useful for the world of work, certified by digital Badges that can be included in their curriculum vitae. The game requires players to pass quizzes and solve puzzles of increasing difficulty on various "digital" tools (Google Workspace, Canva, spreadsheets, social media marketing, WordPress, coding, generative AI…) by challenging other players in tournaments and overcoming seven levels of gameplay. By reaching level 8 – from which the app takes its name – players gain access to training courses and other opportunities offered by Fastweb + Vodafone partners to continue learning and orient themselves to enter the world of work.

Five years after its launch, over 130 thousand young people have started playing and over 100 thousand digital certificates (Badges) have been delivered to be included in their curriculum. LV8 is an app available for free on app stores and is aimed at young people between 16 and 29 years old.

The classroom activities of the "Mission Future" edition just concluded were conducted by a network of trainers coordinated by Next Level – ten in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta – and by territorial partners (INRETE in Calabria, trainer Andrea Pacileo in Campania, the Silva Ricci network in Veneto and Abruzzo, Alfa Liguria in Liguria).

Focus on cyberbullying & generative AI

In the just-concluded edition of the Mission Future project, a path dedicated to acquiring specific skills on fake news and cyberbullying was brought into the classroom. "Mission Impossible: an app to save" is an activity designed to be carried out in a single session (1-2 hours) in which participants must stop a cyber attack that threatens LV8. During the year, this activity released almost 2,800 badges.

Students, divided into groups, take on the roles of young agents who must stop the hacker Evil8, unmask fake news, protect an influencer from cyberbullying, defuse a computer virus and obtain the code to open a safe containing their certificate (Badge). In the second level of the game, hackers have programmed a disinformation campaign: players learn what fake news is and how it is created, why it spreads, techniques to recognize it, correct (excellent) and incorrect (terrible) moves when reading suspicious news, how to analyze viral images and videos. In the third level, players discover an encrypted message: it is Evil8's plan to launch a shitstorm against influencer Lil Koala, with swarms of bots, flame wars, trolling, coordinated hate campaigns and actual cyberbullying activities. Once they understand the phenomenon, players must advise Lil Koala on how to react.

Another LV8 path is the "GreenUs" adventure, on basic digital skills and updated with content related to the limits/risks of generative AI. Players must help three young people – Sara, Pietro and Milo – in making an ecological mobile bar successful. This will be an opportunity to explore the main digital skills that are now fundamental to setting up an entrepreneurial activity/aimed at the public and to navigate the world of work: Gmail, Drive, Google Sheets, Calendar, WordPress. The GreenUs content has been updated with content related to generative AI: during the adventure, the protagonists realize that they can no longer do without using ChatGPT to move forward with their work. This becomes the pretext to learn about it, with a theoretical introduction to how it works, some operational advice and moments of attention on the limits and risks of incorrect use of the technology.
