Fastweb+Vodafone announces it has obtained the ISO/IEC 42001 certification from Bureau Veritas, the international standard dedicated to Artificial Intelligence Management Systems, confirming its commitment to ensuring the development, implementation, and use of AI in a reliable, transparent, and secure manner.

Fastweb+Vodafone is among the first companies in Europe to obtain ISO/IEC 42001 certification from Bureau Veritas – a global leader in inspection, certification, and verification services – further consolidating its role as a pioneer in establishing an AI governance model and a suite of AI products that comply with international regulations and best practices.

Furthermore, following the recent publication by the European Commission of the Code of Conduct for the secure, transparent, and copyright-compliant management of general-purpose AI models, FastwebMIIA reaffirms its full compliance – a full two years ahead of the deadlines set for AI models already on the market – with the provisions of the AI Act. The Code of Conduct aims to clarify the scope of the AI Act’s rules for AI model providers, offering guidance on how to comply and how the European Commission intends to enforce the regulation.

The scope of the ISO/IEC 42001 certification obtained by Fastweb+Vodafone includes all activities related to the AI lifecycle: from design to development, from validation to deployment, from training to production, and the ongoing monitoring of AI systems and models. This also includes the creation and use of the proprietary FastwebMIIA model, intended for both internal processes and clients, including businesses and public administration. This recognition highlights that the company has adopted an advanced and structured AI governance and compliance system—among the most sophisticated in Europe—that, thanks to a systemic approach, enables the timely identification of risks and the definition of appropriate security measures to mitigate them.

“Obtaining this certification is another step forward in building a technological ecosystem that combines security, transparency, and full control of data,” said Walter Renna, CEO of Fastweb+Vodafone, “and it reinforces our commitment to ensuring that AI use is not only high-performing but also governed by reliable, compliant-by-design processes that are ahead of the highest international standards set by the European Commission. Developing AI systems within a regulatory framework is not only possible but can become a strategic lever to foster independent technological solutions and increase trust and adoption among businesses and public institutions.”

The certification process carried out by Bureau Veritas in recent months involved a thorough assessment of the processes adopted by Fastweb+Vodafone for the development, deployment, and operation of AI solutions used both internally and provided to B2B customers.
