Fastweb, now Fastweb + Vodafone, has released the 2024 Sustainability Report, a voluntary document that outlines the most significant achievements in environmental, social, and governance areas, with the aim of contributing to the development of an increasingly connected, inclusive, and eco-sustainable future.
The report marks the completion of Fastweb's social reporting journey and represents the company’s final standalone sustainability report. Starting next year, the new report—produced jointly by Fastweb and Vodafone Italia—will reflect the integration of the two entities, including in ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting.
A More Connected Future:
With 3.4 million fixed-line customers and 3.9 million mobile customers at the end of 2024, Fastweb has contributed to the digital transformation of the country through continuous investments and the development of high-performance fixed and mobile network infrastructure and next-generation digital solutions. By the end of 2024, the company had reached 94% of households and businesses nationwide with ultra-broadband connectivity, and over 800,000 new homes were connected to the network at speeds equal to or greater than 1 Gigabit during the year. With more than 3,400 employees across Italy, the company generated €2.8 billion in revenue, contributing to Italy's GDP. Additionally, 90% of its purchases were made in Italy, further stimulating the national economy. With the launch of the NVIDIA Supercomputer for generative AI and the development of the Fastweb MIIA (Modello Italiano Intelligenza Artificiale) language model, the company is playing a leading role in advancing artificial intelligence and next-generation AI and Gen AI applications for businesses and public administrations in Italy.
A More Inclusive Future:
Fastweb has reinforced its commitment to spreading digital skills among the population. In 2024, Fastweb Digital Academy recorded 320,000 participants in its free training courses on new digital professions, while more than 24,000 people visited the STEP Futurability District—an experience-based space created to explore topics related to new technologies through a ten-stage interactive journey. To concretely support local communities, Fastweb also promoted corporate volunteering through "The Future Week," involving all employees in initiatives related to social impact, digital culture, people empowerment, and environmental protection, amounting to over 6,000 volunteering days. Fastweb also strengthened its efforts in Diversity & Inclusion by renewing its UNI/PdR 125 gender equality certification and implementing new gender-related training programs delivered to more than half of its employees.
A More Sustainable Future:
In 2024, combating climate change remained a core focus of Fastweb’s strategy. In line with the Swisscom Group's objective, Fastweb aims to reduce emissions by 90% and become Net Zero Carbon by 2035. The company reduced its indirect CO₂ emissions by 11% compared to 2023 and improved the energy efficiency of its sites and Data Centers, achieving an annual nominal energy saving of 2.94 GWh. Since 2015, Fastweb has been sourcing 100% of its energy from renewable sources. To provide more sustainable digital solutions to its customers, the "NeXXt One" Internet box was designed to consume 45% less energy than the previous model. As part of its commitment to responsible resource usage, over 60,000 modems were refurbished in 2024.
The 2024 Sustainability Report has been prepared "in accordance" with GRI Standards and is available on the company corporate website, along with the Benefit Corporation Impact Report.
