In January as well, the scientific and cultural program at STEP FuturAbility District (Piazza Adriano Olivetti 1, Milan)—the innovative space for connecting with the future where everyone can better understand the ongoing digital revolution and learn how to become active participants—is enriched with new events featuring exceptional speakers.

On Tuesday, January 14, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop “The Future of Personal Care: Science, Nature and Science Fiction” will be held. During this session, the convergence between the rapid evolution of the beauty & personal care sector and technological innovation will be discussed. Starting from ancient beauty traditions, emerging trends that are revolutionizing the world of personal care will be explored through a scientific approach that anticipates consumer expectations. Through a journey spanning science, nature and science fiction, a vision of the future of beauty & personal care will be offered, where innovation and tradition merge to create new possibilities.

Milena Valentini, Sales & Product Manager Beauty & Personal Care at IMCD Italia, will be present. As graduate in Chemistry with a Master’s in Cosmetic Sciences and Technologies as well as in Anti-Aging Techniques, she has gained solid professional experience in multinational companies leading in the cosmetic ingredients and fragrance sectors. Her career has led her to collaborate with multinational companies, deepening the development of innovative solutions for the world of Personal Care. This workshop is organized in collaboration with IMCD Italia – Technology Innovation Lab, a partner of STEP.

On Tuesday, January 21, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop “What Happens to Professions with AI” will take place, during which the effects of AI on professions will be illustrated in light of some scientific research and early empirical evidence, while trying to understand which “jobs” are most “exposed” to the impact of AI.

Marco Bentivogli, an expert in innovation, work and industry and National Coordinator of Base Italia, will be present. Formerly General Secretary of the Metalworkers CISL from 2014 to 2020 and considered the “father” of the subjective right to training, he is also Vice President of the Capitale&Lavoro Foundation.

On Tuesday, January 28, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, STEP will host the workshop “Soft Robotics, between Industry and Prosthetics for Human Beings.” Taking a “soft” approach to robotics in its interaction with the surrounding environment and human beings, Manuel Catalano, a Researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology, will illustrate the possible applications developed in the IIT laboratory for both industrial and healthcare sectors. Among the prototypes to be discussed are the humanoid AlterEgo—a robot avatar

remotely controlled that acts as an alter ego for humans to provide remote assistance—the SoftHand Pro robotic hand prosthesis, characterized by extreme flexibility and adaptability of its fingers, and the motorless SoftFoot Pro foot prosthesis, inspired by the anatomy of the human foot and featuring a unique structure capable of autonomously deforming and adapting to different types of surfaces. This workshop is organized in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology, a partner of STEP.
